A few highlights from Hockey Alberta's release on the new registration process that will be affecting many of your centers are as follows:1. Clinics registrations will be closing 10 days prior to the clinic date. NO EXCEPTIONS. The days of registering the day before or forgetting and showing up at the clinic the day of and having an instructor manually add you to the class are over. If you show up to the class without having registered, you will be turned away.2. Clinic registration costs will be PAID ONLINE ONLY when the officials register for their clinic. This means, that those centers who pay for their officials registration will have to reimburse the officials later in the season as the instructors will no longer be handling money at the clinic.3. Hockey Alberta is soft launching an online exam format for officials clinics this fall, with the idea that in the coming years we will no longer have paper exams. Since most people these days have some sort of smart device, we are encouraging people to bring a smart device to the clinic so that we can do as many tests online as possible. Yes, we will still have paper exams for people who need one.Last thing, CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS. The bulk of us will have to renew or criminal record checks this seasons as we are now on the 4th season that the initiative has been in place. We are encouraging people not to wait until the last minute to complete their check since you cannot register for a clinic without one, and depending on the volume of checks you could be waiting a few days of even a week to get your results.
