Import / Player Movement

Eligible Scenarios for Player Movement:

• Your age division has no team within your Primary Minor Hockey Association (MHA)
• Your primary MHA has a full team at your age division (18 skaters, 2 goaltenders)
• Movement by Special Exception (see guidelines below)
• Player has moved from elsewhere in Alberta to within Stettler Minor Hockey boundary

Special Exception Guidelines
Commonly accepted circumstances include but are not limited to:

• Parent/guardian workplace or player's school location
• Travel distance/access to ice times
• Alternate tier opportunity aligning with skill level
• Need for player in the accepting MHA

Steps to Request Player Movement:

1. Complete the Hockey Alberta Player Movement Form
2. Have form signed by the President of your primary association
3. Submit to registrar@stettlerminorhockey.com

** Please send your Player Movement requests as soon as possible for consideration. SMHA Resident Players have 2 weeks of priority registration (until June 24); after which, import players will start to be approved and allowed to register based on age division numbers. Every effort will be made to ensure all players have a place to play.

Note: Players utilizing Player Movement to register will automatically return to their home association at the end of the season, unless both minor hockey associations agree to subsequent seasons (ie. permanent release). Without permanent release, this process must be completed yearly (even if you have played with SMHA in the past). 

 If you have recently moved or will be moving within SMHA boundaries from another province:

1. Complete Hockey Alberta's Parent Declaration Online Form
2. Ensure form submission is forwarded to registrar@stettlerminorhockey.com
